Adrian Mannarino is having his best-ever campaign at Flushing Meadows and will be eager to keep his run going. The Frenchman had never progressed past the third round until this week, losing five times at that stage.

Mannarino had a slight stroke of luck in advancing to this round, though. Battling against sixth seed Ben Shelton, Mannarino won two sets, and before the decider, Shelton was forced to retire with injury.

As he has moved up 22 places to 55th in the live ranking, Mnnarino is now plotting a first-ever quarter-final appearance at a major.

Jiri Lehecka has won a fourth-round tie before at a major. This was two years ago at the Australian Open. Since then, he has lost the other two fourth-rounders he has contested, most recently in Melbourne this season.

To advance to his fourth such round, the Czech athlete defeated Raphael Collignon for his first straight-sets win this week. The win improved him to 33-17 and nudged him up three places to a career high 18th place in the live ranking.
