Fourth seed Ben Shelton is riding high in the rankings at present. The American is up to a career-high sixth and will want a deep run in the Canadian Open in Toronto. He faces the qualifier Adrian Mannarino on Wednesday. Here's our match prediction.

Shelton received a bye into round two of this Masters tournament. The winner of this match will be up against either 25th seed Brandon Nakashima or unseeded Ethan Quinn.

The American reached the semi-finals in last week's Washington tournament, his second hard court last four appearance of the year, the other being in the Australian Open.

Mannarino has won both of his previous two matches against Shelton. Both were on hard courts but before his form began to deteriorate. Mannarino has dropped down the rankings in the past year.  At one stage last year he was ranked 17th but is currently only 89th.

That's after winning a qualifying round match and then defeating Marcos Giron in round one, both in straight sets. 

This is only the fourth time this year that he's got past round one of an ATP Tour event. Mannarino has a 4-13 hard court record in 2025 and before this week hadn't won a main draw match in an ATP Tour hard court tournament.
