Pep Guardiola and company have no margin for error this time around in the title race
Manchester City's recent 3-3 draw at Everton on Monday proved costly in the title race, leaving them five points adrift of the summit and handing Arsenal, their closest rivals, a real shot at Premier League glory.
If it wasn't for Jeremy Doku's heroics from opening the scoring to a second-half stoppage-time equaliser, we could have been talking about a damaging setback at Hill Dickinson Stadium that may have dealt even more damage to City's hopes of retaining the title.
Pep Guardiola didn't seem frustrated at the result. Instead, he chose to focus on the positives from his side's overall performance. Speaking to the media, this is what he had to say:
It's better than losing. We'd rather win. We play for that, and we just showed what a team we are. We tried everything. The players were aggressive.
The direction of the crown is no longer in the control of the Citizens. The best they can do now is watch and wait and hope Arsenal do what they do best in the latter stages of the campaign, bottle their lead. The fact that they have a game in hand could prove decisive in the run-in.
Manchester City return to the Etihad Stadium, which has turned out to be their sanctuary this season. Not only have they won 12 of their last 16 home games, but they've also been a tough opponent to overcome, maintaining a 15-match unbeaten run.
Their dominance speaks for itself in this fixture too, against Brentford, where they've won five of their last seven matches since their first meeting in October 1935.

From despair to belief, the West Londoners can now dream of rubbing shoulders with the elite in Europe, that's if they play their cards right in the Premier League this season.
Head coach Keith Andrews, who has never coached any club other than Brentford, has silenced the doubters. Many expected the Irishman to struggle this season in his first managerial role. However, it has been the exact opposite, as he is on the verge of guiding the club into European football next season.
It'll be a significant achievement for him, but most importantly for the Bees, whose dream of playing in Europe will materialise for the first time in club history. Cautious steps are advised as they risk gaining or losing valuable ground.

As we can see from the above table, Brentford are in a tricky position, and failure to secure maximum points or at least one point could have significant issues in their European football hopes.
Andrews has faced Manchester City twice this season and is yet to win a game. In fact, he has lost both encounters with his side failing to find the back of the net. Being on the road inspires little confidence for the 45-year-old to cause an upset.
Most of their struggles have been away from home, losing nine of their last 17 games, with the burden of not winning in their last four matches across all competitions weighing heavily on their shoulders. To add to that weight, they have lost three consecutive matches against Manchester City.
Player Focus: Will Erling Haaland be braut-al in the final third?
Manchester City enter MD36 of the Premier League missing a few players. Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, and Rodri are all sidelined for this encounter. That shouldn't be a punch in the gut for head coach Pep Guardiola, whose offensive front remains untouched.
