Round two in the 2025 World Cup of Darts brings us an intriguing matchup, with Wales set to face the Philippines on Saturday afternoon. The Welsh are seeded second, while the Philippines are unseeded. Let’s get into the match prediction.
Wales enter the 2025 World Cup of Darts as the second-favourite to win the competition behind England’s “Dream Team” of Luke Littler and Luke Humphries.
The Welsh team suffered disappointment last year when they were ousted in their very first match by Croatia, though Jim Williams was part of the team at that point, while Gerwyn Price was out through injury.
The Iceman is back this year, though, and he has been in great shape in recent times. He will link up with Jonny Clayton, with whom he won two of their last four World Cup competitions.
Meanwhile, this year’s World Cup has already produced several shocking results, few bigger than the Philippines reaching the knockouts from a group that featured Belgium and Latvia.
Lourence Ilagan and Paolo Nebrida didn’t eek through either, they beat Latvia fairly convincingly 4-2 in their opener before shocking the Belgians 4-3, coming back from 3-0 down in game two.
Prior to those wins, the Philippines had only won three World Cup matches in nine previous editions of the competition. However, their only previous match against Wales ended in a 5-2 loss in 2022.

Wales will be making their first appearance at this year’s World Cup, thanks to the top four nations receiving byes in the first round, and given where they are drawn, they will be eyeing a deep run as they will avoid facing England until much later in the tournament.
