The USA are totally dominant in world basketball and are bidding to win this tournament for the third time in a row and their fifth win in the last six. They last lost a World Cup match 12 years ago and haven't lost a match since 2015. Such is their dominance that they have scored over 100 points in seven of their last ten internationals. Their most recent international saw them defeat France who are the third ranked team in the world by a 17-point margin. Senegal are the highest ranked country in Africa at 17th but aren't the current Afrobasket champions having lost to Nigeria in last year's final losing them the title they won in 2015. This is their first World Cup finals since 2010 when finishing 16th and their best ever performance is 12th in 1979 though that was last position. Their most recent game saw them lose a friendly to Canada (ranked sixth) by 19 points. The last time they played the USA was eight years ago and they lost 108-52.
