Tommy Paul will be looking for some revenge when he faces unseeded Jack Draper in the second round of the Australian Open. The 14th seed lost to Draper last week in the Adelaide International tournament. Paul was ranked 14th in the world at the start of this first Grand Slam of the year but a place lower in the live list. The first round saw him get a straight sets victory over unseeded Gregoire Barrere losing only eight games in the process. The American has only once made it past the fourth round of a Grand Slam event. That was in this tournament last year when getting to the semi-finals but being beaten by eventual winner Novak Djokovic.

Jack Draper had a far tougher match in the first round. He had to go to a final set to win against Marcos Giron. He won the first set, lost the next two but recovered to win the final couple of sets. Only two games were lost in those sets but Draper's celebrations were cut short by him being sick. He blamed that on stress more than fatigue but that was the first time he's had to play five sets. Draper beat Paul in the Adelaide quarter finals but eventually lost in the final to Jiri Lehecka. At the start of this Australian Open, he was ranked 55th but is up to 49th after his first round win. Another tight match looks likely here and we go for over 3.5 sets to be played.
