Sweden will take on Slovakia in Group B of the Men’s Ice Hockey tournament at the Winter Olympics on Saturday. This is the final game of the group stage for these teams, so let’s make a prediction on this important contest.

Sweden kicked things off with a win over Italy before taking on Finland on Friday. They entered the tournament as one of the strongest of the European teams, and as such will expect to be beating teams like Slovakia.

They met at both the World Championships in 2025 and 2024, beating the Slovakian team comfortably on each occasion. They ran out 5-0 winners in their most recent clash and 6-1 before that.

Slovakia began their tournament with a win over Finland which was a solid performance before taking on Italy. They won the bronze medal at the last Winter Olympics but that was without NHL players on the ice. 

This tournament is in a break for the NHL to allow players to compete and that makes the level an awful lot harder for the likes of Slovakia to repeat their Beijing heroics.
