Top seed Jannik Sinner will face 10th seed Lorenzo Musetti next in his US Open title defence. Their third career meeting and the first at a major will take place at the quarter-finals. Read on to find our prediction for this match.

Jannik Sinner has been in splendid form in New York, winning four matches with only one set lost. The Italian, who is currently on an 11-match winning streak in this major, defeated Alexander Bublik in the last round.

Sinner dominated the in-form Bublik, snapping the Kazakh’s 11-match winning streak by the loss of just three games. Currently in second place in the live ranking, Sinner has compiled an incredible 35-4 and won two Grand Slam titles.

Lorenzo Musetti has never won against Sinner, losing both previous duels against his countryman without winning a set. Their most recent showdown was two years ago on clay in Monte Carlo.

He faces a daunting task given Sinner’s rich vein of form. Musetti, who also has lost just one set in his run to the last eight, is coming off a dominant display against Jaume Munar.

The Italian, who hasn’t lost more than six games in his last three fixtures, defeated Munar by the loss of four games. Now with 30 wins in 42 outings this year, the 23-year-old has moved up to ninth in the live ranking.

Musetti is seeking to make the semi-finals of a major for the second time this year.
