Serbia vs Portugal Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup
by Daniel Ngulu | in World Cup Prediction
Serbia and Portugal both registered wins in their opening Group A matches in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. The two will be facing off on Match Day 2 this Saturday, with Serbia hosting. Serbia came from down to see off Ireland 3-2 and will be hoping to hit six points as the European champions visit. They have the perfect launch pad with a run of five matches unbeaten, and being a second straight home game should give them the advantage. In their last two home matches, Serbia have scored eight goals and have just two losses and seven wins in the last 13 home matches. In World Cup qualification matches, Serbia have lost just once in the last 14 while they have four wins in the last five. They are unbeaten in the nine World Cup qualification matches at home, with six wins therein. In the nation’s history, they’ve played 22 World Cup qualification matches at home, and have lost just once, a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Belgium.
Portugal are ranked 25 places above Serbia and remain one of the sides to beat in Europe. That was however not reflected in their opening game against Azerbaijan, as even with their star players, they needed an own goal to win 1-0. It is not a surprise though, as Portugal are normally slow starters in qualifiers. That win presented their sixth clean sheet in eight matches and their only loss in the last 11 matches came against world champions France in the Nations League in November. Defensively, Portugal are good; apart from the six clean sheets in eight matches, they have conceded two or more goals in just one of their last 11 matches. There’s no question about their prowess in attack; Portugal have failed to score in just one of the last five matches and going here they are unbeaten in their last four away matches, with three wins therein. They have seven wins in the last eight away matches in World Cup qualifiers and four straight clean sheets in the qualifiers ahead of this game.

Our Serbia vs Portugal Prediction
These two nations are the top contenders for the Qatar 2022 ticket from Group A. Both are coming from wins in their opening matches and it will be interesting to see the strategy they employ here. Serbia don’t lose a lot at home, and Portugal are good away in the World Cup qualifiers. The two nations haven’t lost a lot recently and a draw looks very likely here.
