Braga welcomes Trofense to the Estádio Municipal de Braga for this first round group D match in the Portuguese Cup. The home team comes into this match on the back of a 2-1 away win over Portimonense in their last match in the Portugal League. Braga were in great form in the league before the break for the World Cup. They were up to third place on the table, just a point behind second placed Porto. Braga will be hoping to continue with that form in the Cup competition. They have only lost twice in their last nine matches across all competitions with six wins and a draw. Both of those defeats were in the Europa League to Malmo and Union Berlin. Braga have however not been in the best of form at home, losing three of their last five matches.

Trofense are currently plying their trade in the in the Portuguese Liga 2 which is the second tier of football in Portugal. The visitors are in 17th position with eight points from their 13 matches. Trofense are in the midst of a horror run of matches that has seen them fail to win any of their last seven matches with six losses and a draw. This string of results has seen them fall into the relegation zone and they are now two points from safety. Trofense will be hoping the Cup competition brings them a change of fortunes with their last win coming in the other Cup competition.
