Camilo Ugo Carabelli mainly plays on clay but has already had one good hard court run in 2025. He'll be hoping for another when taking on fellow unseeded player Roberto Carballes Baena in round one in Toronto. Here's our match prediction.

The winner of this outdoor hard court match will have a tough task in round two. The scheduled opponent in the last 64 will be the second seed Taylor Fritz.

Carabelli is a career-high 47th in the live rankings. He's had a good year so far and that's reflected by him being 36th in the ATP Live Race. He has reached two clay court semi-finals in the past fortnight. Now he looks to continue that good form on hard courts.

This is only his third hard court tournament of the year. The most recent one saw him win four matches before being beaten in round three of the main draw by Novak Djokovic. 

Roberto Carballes Baena won the only match played between these two players. However, it was on clay, played in 2017 and Carbelli retired hurt. Baena is down at 89th in the live rankings and has been struggling of late with three losses in four matches.

The Spaniard has only won one of his last six hard court matches. We tip Carabelli to win this.
