This match is extremely important when it comes to determining play-off semi-finalists. Toulon are third in the table and host second-placed Bordeaux Begles. The top two go straight into the semi-finals. Here’s our match prediction.

Toulon have qualified for the play-offs but are five points behind Bordeaux with two games remaining. They are struggling for form though and are bidding to avoid a fourth successive league defeat. Their last match saw them lose 25-21 at Section Paloise. That could have been worse as they trailed 20-0 at the break. That loss followed defeats by Vannes and Stade Toulousain.

The 50-16 loss to leaders Stade Toulousain was on home soil. Before that, they had won all 11 of their home league matches.

Bordeaux are second but can’t catch Stade Toulousain who are 12 points ahead of them. The Begles won the European Rugby Champions Cup last weekend with a win over Northampton Saints.

Two of their last three league games have been lost. Their most recent match in Top 14 saw them field a weakened side but still defeat Castres at home.

They have won six of their 12 away league games but lost all the others, including two of the last three. We tip RC Toulon to take advantage of being the home side and win on a -18 points handicap.
