Rayo Vallecano will bring their superior recent record against Barcelona to the pitch as action resumes in La Liga after the international break. Estadio de Vallecas on Saturday will see the hosts 10th with 18 points and the visitors 3rd on three points. Vallecano went into the international break losing 2-1 to Girona. That result ended what has been an impressive run of seven games where Vallecano won once and drew five matches. They start this round six points behind top-five and that could still be an achievable target for them. Yet, they have a lot of work to do at this venue, having won just once across their last six home league matches – drawing thrice and losing twice. They do have an impressive recent record against Barca though, having won thrice and drawn once across their last four La Liga matches.

Barcelona are four behind leaders Girona and will hope to stay in touch with the top-two. They went into the international break on the back of consecutive wins – over Real Sociedad and Deportivo Alaves. Both those wins have come with a single-goal margin, with the winner against Sociedad coming deep in stoppage time. Their away form gives hope that the Catalans can continue their good recent record. They are as yet unbeaten on the road this season, winning and drawing three each away from home in the league campaign. Yet, with four of those matches seeing them fail to keep a clean sheet, the visitors could struggle to stop the home side from finding the back of the net.
