Scottish giants Rangers continue their preparations for the 2025-26 season with a friendly against English Championship side Middlesbrough. This match on Saturday at the Ibrox Stadium between the Gers and Boro comes with our prediction of a win for the hosts.
The Rangers are already into the competitive side of their season and will be travelling to Athens next week, while Middlesbrough are into their third friendly of the season and have one more before starting the Championship season on 9th August.
Rangers won 2-0 at home against Panathinaikos at this venue on Tuesday, boosting their chances of moving to the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. With an upcoming away leg of that tie on the horizon, the Scottish hosts could be forgiven for rotating their squad.
There are still issues to iron out, as was seen in the 2-2 draw at this venue against Club Brugge in a friendly match a couple of weeks back. Interestingly, that remains their only draw across their last four matches at this venue, winning the other three.
Middlesbrough have one more friendly against Deportivo La Coruna before starting their domestic season. The worry for Boro is their poor form in the friendlies, as they could only draw 3-3 away at Mansfield and lost 2-0 at Bradford City.
