Newcastle are three points clear at the top of the Championship having won ten of their 14 league games. They are in great form at present with six straight wins managing to keep clean sheets in four of them. On Tuesday they beat Preston 6-0 at home in the EFL Cup but don't read too much into that. Preston were playing away, they put out a weak side and had a player sent off. Newcastle are strong away though and you couldn't have written that last year. They've won five of the last six scoring 13 and conceding just once and their only away league defeat was on the first day of the season at Fulham. Preston are down in ninth place and have already lost six league games this season. They had a big win last weekend though winning at Norwich and have previously drawn away at Brighton and Hove Albion. Preston have won their last four home games conceding just once but have lost three other home league matches. This will be a lot closer than the cup tie but Newcastle have momentum and can win this game..
