Poland vs Argentina Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup
by Indran | in World Cup Prediction
Poland and Argentina clash in the final round of Group C with both teams seeking a victory to secure their progression into the round of 16. Poland only need a draw to guarantee their place in the next round while a loss for Argentina will see them eliminated. All four teams from the group can still qualify although in Mexico’s situation they will need to win and hope Poland beat Argentina. If Poland loses they can still qualify depending on the result of the other match in the group. A Poland loss and a win for Saudi Arabia will see the Poles eliminated while a draw or win for Mexico will mean goal difference could separate the teams. Both teams will want to top the group as the second placed team will play the winner from Group D which looks likely to be defending champions France, a team to avoid. A win sees Poland top the group while a draw will also see them finish first should Saudi Arabia fail to win. Argentina must win and need the other match to end in a draw or for Mexico to win for the South Americans to top the group. If both Argentina and Saudi Arabia win, then it could come down to goal difference to separate the top two spots (Argentina currently hold a two goal difference advantage).

Poland - Argentina: Form Analysis
Poland would have been very nervous entering their last match against Saudi Arabia after the Saudis caused one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history by beating Argentina in their opening match. The Poles safely negotiated a potentially tricky match, coming away with a 2-0 victory with star striker Robert Lewandowski finally scoring his first World Cup goal. Poland are unbeaten in their last four matches with three wins and a draw. They have been miserly in defence as they have kept clean sheets in their last four matches.
Argentina came into the tournament as one of the favourites as they were on a 36 game unbeaten run but were brought crashing down to earth by Saudi Arabia. However, they bounced back in style by beating Mexico 2-0, with their captain and talisman Lionel Messi leading from the front with an excellent goal. Argentina will look to make a fast start again as no team has scored first against them since November 2020. Their last two matches against European opposition in the 2018 World Cup resulted in losses to Croatia and France but they have never lost three consecutive games to European opposition in this tournament.

Poland & Argentina Squad Analysis
Poland head coach Czeslaw Michniewicz is expected to name an unchanged starting lineup for their final World Cup 2022 Group C fixture against Argentina on Wednesday. After playing out a goalless draw with Mexico in their opening game, Michniewicz made three changes to his side against Saudi Arabia on Saturday, with the Poles going on to secure a 2-0 victory courtesy of strikes from Piotr Zielinski and Robert Lewandowski. Lewandowski after netting his first-ever World Cup goal is likely to be joined in attack again by Arkadiusz Milik.
Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni may decide to freshen up his starting lineup once again for their final Group C clash against Poland on Wednesday. Captain Messi is likely to be joined in attack by Lautaro Martinez and Angel Di Maria, although Julian Alvarez and Paulo Dybala are also in contention for a starting berth. Enzo Fernandez who scored the second goal in the last match could be handed his first start in Qatar alongside Rodrigo De Paul, while Guido Rodriguez, Alexis Mac Allister and Leandro Paredes are all set to battle it out for the final spot in the three-man midfield.

Our Poland vs Argentina Prediction
Poland have found goals hard to come by in recent matches as they average under a goal a game in the last six matches although they have offset their poor goal scoring form with an excellent defence. They will be more than delighted with a draw as they would progress to the next round, so we can expect them to set up very defensively. Argentina have also been brilliant in defence and will be looking to score first once again and back their defence to get them the win. This match could possibly be decided by a single goal therefore we are backing the under 2.5 goals option.
