Peru vs Colombia Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup

Bottom-feeders Peru play host to third-place Colombia for matchday seven of South America’s CONMEBOL 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign on Friday. Let’s get into the prediction for this matchup between La Blanquirroja and Los Cafeteros.

Peru have only managed to qualify for the World Cup once in the last 10 editions (Qatar 2022) and they are in serious danger of missing out yet again. A horrid start to the campaign sees them sitting bottom of the standings with only two points from the first six fixtures. A 1-1 draw with Venezuela in their most recent qualifying match finally put an end to a four game losing streak. 

Peru would then crash out of the Copa America group stage with one draw and two losses while failing to score a single goal. Their last time taking to the field was in a 2-0 defeat to Argentina.

Colombia, on the other hand, have been experiencing a tremendous amount of success since the appointment of manager Nestor Lorenzo back in July 2022. The Argentine head coach has a stellar record with the Tricolor, the culmination of which was an appearance in the recent Copa America final. Colombia were ultimately unable to seal the deal, finishing as runners-up to Argentina after losing 1-0 in extra time.

While Colombia will of course be disappointed that they didn’t lift the Copa, there is plenty to be optimistic about regarding this team. They’ve started qualifying very strongly with three wins and three draws and they remain the only unbeaten team in the region.

Colombia also retained their unbelievable regulation time unbeaten streak which is now at an astounding 29 games. The last time they were beaten in 90 minutes was in February 2022.
