England are top of Group L with four points from their first two matches. They were held to a goalless draw by Ghana on Tuesday but will be confident of three points against Panama. The Canal Men are already eliminated and lost to England 6-1 in the 2018 World Cup. Our prediction is an England win, leading at half and full time.
After putting four past Croatia in their opening match in Group L, the Three Lions didn't quite roar so loud against a defensive Ghana. They are guaranteed a top three finish and will be the group leaders if they can get back into winning ways against Panama and Ghana don't beat Croatia by two goals or more.. Not winning against Ghana was disappointing but it's not the end of the world by any means. Winning all three group matches and the trophy has only been achieved three times and that doesn't include when England won the World Cup 60 years ago.
Their opponents have lost both of their games against Ghana and Croatia 1-0. Under the new head-to-head rule, that means even if they were to beat England in this match, the Red Tide will still finish bottom of the group and be on their way back home. Will we see another close match here though?

Panama - England: Form Analysis

England are top of Group L on goal difference with this final game against Panama to come. Ghana are in second place with Croatia a point behind and Panama yet to earn a point. A win for England will see them end the group as its leaders.
Winning the group is England's target.
Their coach will want his team to finish top of Group L. Finishing second would see them take on either Colombia or Portugal in the last 32 rather than a third-placed side. It was a frustrating night against Ghana and the expectation of another successful attacking match didn't come to fruition.
The Three Lions would love a repeat of their 2018 World Cup group match against Panama. They won that 6-1 and Harry Kane scored a hat-trick. England had won their last nine matches in the 2026 World Cup (including qualifying) before that draw with Ghana. England have only lost to Japan in their last 12 matches across all competitions.
Under the old goal difference rules for tie-breakers, Panama would be able to keep their qualification hopes alive with a win here. That's not going to happen though and losses to Ghana and Croatia mean that their fate has already been determined and they will be on their way home after this match.
This is only their second time in the World Cup finals. The other was in 2018 and they finished bottom of their group on that occasion. The Canal Men have gone three games without a victory and will hope they can avoid another poor night like they had in Brazil last month, losing 6-2.

Panama & England Squad Analysis
If England had beaten Ghana on Tuesday, they would already have won Group L. Doing so would have given their coach the opportunity to give some game time to fringe players who may well be needed later in the tournament.
He can't do that though but could make a fair few substitutions in the game if they can secure a commanding lead over Panama in this match or Ghana are struggling against Croatia. The Three Lions have a couple of injury concerns ahead of this final group fixture.
Rice is a doubt for England.
Declan Rice has a left calf injury and an assessment of the problem will be made ahead of this match. He had to be taken off for the second successive match due to that injury. England do have other options if it is considered too much of a risk to play Rice against Panama. He is back in training but with him struggling throughout this group phase, the England coach may still opt to rest him ahead of the knockout stages.
Who could play instead? Well, Morgan Rogers or Kobbie Mainoo are possible replacements.
Another worry is the injury-prone Reece James and he did not take part in the England group's final session before heading off to New York. Instead. James has been on an individual programme and his hamstring injury makes him a big doubt. Djed Spence, Ezri Konsa or Jarrell Quansah could come into the side.
Panama cannot qualify for the knockout stages of this World Cup tournament and will finish fourth. They may decide to make some changes but it promises to be a big night for Fidel Escobar who will earn his 100th cap for Panama if selected.
He will become the fifth player in the Panama squad to reach the 100 cap mark Panama would love to at least score one goal in this group and that may come from Jose Fajardo who has scored 17 goals for his country.

Our Panama vs England Prediction
England made a bright start to this group with a 4-2 victory over Croatia. They still have work to do to win the group though after the goalless draw with Ghana. They struggled to break down a defensive Ghana team but should prosper better against Panama.
Their opponents know they will be on their way home after this match regardless of the result. They are yet to score a goal but have only conceded twice. This is going to be tough for them and our main Panama v England prediction is Half-time/Full-time: England/England.
