Men's 400m Final Predictions & Betting tips - Olympic Games

One lap of the track around the Stade de France is all that stands between the men's 400m final field and an Olympic gold medal. This is one of the most competitive events to make a prediction on at the 2024 Olympic Games with a tight-knit field of athletes.

The favourite is Quincy Hall, one of two men this year to dip below 44 seconds. He was the bronze medalist in Budapest last year at the World Championships, just behind the man who is his biggest rival in Paris. He set a new PB that day so the pressure of a big final is no issue for him, improving on that this year.

Hall was better known as a hurdler for a long time in his career. Concentrating on the flat 400m now, he is rapidly improving as he goes along. He produced a strong effort to win the US trials and is the one they have to beat.

Matthew Hudson-Smith is the other athlete who has broken the 44-second barrier in 2024, his 43.74 set at the Golden League meeting in London is the leading time this year. There is no athlete in the history of Team GB who has more European Championship medals than Hudson-Smith, but an Olympic one has eluded him so far.

Third in the market is Michael Norman. Part of the 4X400m relay gold-winning US team from Tokyo, he was the 2022 World Champion. He has been slower to find his top form this year but he set his season's best in the heats on August 4 so looks to be hitting form at the perfect time. His PB came way back in 2019 but that run makes him the 6th quickest ever over 400m.
