Matchday two in the 2025-26 A-League season sees Newcastle United Jets hosting Melbourne Victory. Both teams are searching for their first win of the season, which side will come out on top? Check out our match prediction.
Newcastle Jets suffered a devastating 3-2 away defeat to Western Sydney Wanderers to open their campaign. They had a chance to win the match deep into stoppage time with a penalty, only to miss and see Western Sydney score the winner moments later.
It will be interesting to see how they respond here after snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Last season, Newcastle Jets finished ninth and while they are just outsiders to compete for the title, they’ve publicly made it known that they are targeting qualification to the finals series this season (i.e. a top six finish).
After losing out 1-0 in the final to local rivals Melbourne City, the Victory will be targeting the title this time around.
