The Netherlands will get their 2025 World Cup of Darts campaign underway on Thursday when they face Italy in Frankfurt. The Netherlands are the number-five seed in the competition, while Italy are unseeded. Let’s get into the match prediction.
The Netherlands have featured in every edition of the World Cup of Darts and are the second-most successful nation, having won the competition four times, one fewer than England.
However, despite their impressive overall record, they have performed poorly in the last two editions, bowing out in the second round of each competition to Belgium.
Notably, world number three, Michael van Gerwen, has opted not to play this year, which sees Gian van Veen brought in to partner Danny Noppert. They are ranked 23rd and 15th, respectively, according to the PDC Order of Merit.
Meanwhile, Italy will be making their 12th appearance at the World Cup and enter the competition with an overall tournament record of 4-13.
However, their best-ever showing came last year, when they reached the quarter-final for the first time ever, before losing to Belgium in a 15-leg thriller 8-7.
The Italians have retained their duo of Michele Turetta and Massimo Dalla Rossa. Turetta is ranked 106th according to the PDC Order of Merit, while Dalla Rosa is unranked.

Italy proved to be one of the surprise packages of the competition last year and have retained the pairing of Turetta and Dalla Rosa, who earned them their best-ever finish.
