A poor season domestically for the Neapolitans has been a huge disappointment in the year after their Serie A title success last season and the drop off in form has been so great that many of their top players, such as Victor Osimhen and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, have been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season. The team has been inconsistent from the start of the season and seems unable to string a run of strong results together.
Barcelona come into this game knowing that this will be manager Xavi's final Champions League campaign as manager. The Spanish legend has already stated he will leave the club at the end of the season. Financial struggles have not helped Barcelona this season but they remain third in La Liga, but some way off the pace being set by Real Madrid at the top of the table. Their Champions League performances have replicated their league form with two defeats and four wins in the group stages. Worryingly, Robert Lewandowski has scored just one Champions League goal this season for the Catalan side and both their top scorers in this competition, Ferran Torres and Joao Felix (3 goals apiece) are currently injured.

Napoli welcomed back first choice goalkeeper Alex Meret in their 1-1 home draw with Genoa at the weekend and the Italian international will likely keep his place in the team for the game with Barcelona on Wednesday. Natan has also recently returned from injury and Victor Osimhen should return to the squad after returning from African Cup of Nations duty with Nigeria. With no players suspended for this game, Napoli boss Walter Mazzari should have a full-strength squad to pick from. Osimhen's return would be a welcome boost for the Neapolitans given their struggles to score goals while their top striker has been representing his country at the AFCON tournament. The Nigerian striker has 7 goals in 13 Serie A appearances this season as well as one Champions League goal in four appearances in the competition.
Barcelona head coach Xavi has a lengthy injury list ahead of this tricky trip to Naples. Defenders Alejandro Balde, Sergi Roberto are both absent long term, as is young midfielder Gavi.
