Jaume Munar will kick off his Geneva Open campaign with a first-round match against Quentin Halys. This will be their second meeting, with the winner to face top seed Taylor Fritz. We have a prediction below.

After his race to the fourth round at the Rome Masters, Munar will feel confident heading to Geneva. There won’t be much to be disappointed about in his last outing; a straight-sets loss to world number seven Casper Ruud.

It was his first defeat in four matches, and thus he carries a considerably better run to this game. Munar could target improving his current record, which reads 13-12. He has especially struggled on clay, so far compiling a 5-7 record.

It has so far unfolded as a tough year for Quentin Halys, who comes into this tournament on a losing run. The fact that he isn’t a strong player on clay adds to his woes as he makes his Geneva debut.

The Frenchman has alternated between the tour and Challenger events, and in three of the last four, he failed to go past one match.

His straight-sets defeat to Nikoloz Basilashvili in the second round at the Bordeaux Challenger left him with just one win in the last six matches. On clay this season, he has so far compiled a 1-4 record.
