Mozambique’s push for a place at the 2022 World Cup will be over if they lose to Cameroon in the fourth round of matches in Group D on Monday. Mozambique hosts the West Africans days after falling 3-1 away in Cameroon and will hope to avoid another defeat. They have one point, at the bottom of the group standings while Cameroon have six points, in second place. Mozambique will be without defender Danilo Muze after he was sent off in the first meeting and they will hope to improve in a run that has just two wins in the last 10 matches. They’ve failed to score in six of the last 10 matches and are still in the chase for a first win in this group, the last two matches having ended in losses. In 13 World Cup qualification matches, they have three wins only and they have lost each of their last three meetings with Cameroon.

Cameroon are getting to their best and they can now count on a number of their Europe based stars. They are just a point below group leaders Ivory Coast and will be pushing to the end to try and get to the top. Bayern Munich forward Choupo-Moting scored a brace and Lyon’s Toko Ekambi scored the other as they thrashed Mozambique 3-1 in their earlier meeting. In terms of player quality, they have more established personnel compared to Mozambique, and they have scored in each of the three matches in this group already. Cameroon also take to the game a better defence, having kept four clean sheets in the last six matches. In World Cup qualification they are also better, having scored two or more goals in four of the last five matches in the qualifiers.
