Millwall vs Southampton Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Gameweek 15 in the Championship will see Millwall playing host to Southampton on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are in 18th place in the league standings, while the visitors are fourth. Millwall are a long way from the sort of form that saw them challenge for a playoff spot last season. They have managed just 17 points from 14 games, with a record of four wins, five draws and five losses. However, with the league table still being very compact, they are only six points behind West Brom in fifth place. The Lions played out a 2-2 draw against Watford last weekend, which was their fourth consecutive match without a win. During that time, they also drew with Hull and Preston North End while suffering defeat at home to Blackburn Rovers. At the Den, Millwall have taken just seven of a possible 21 points this season. They have also failed to win any of their last three at home, losing two and drawing one. As a result, the bookmakers make them the underdogs in this match. 

Meanwhile, after losing four league games in a row in August, Southampton have shown improvement over the last month or so. They have got themselves back into the top four, currently on 24 points, though they are still a full ten points behind the top two teams. The Saints claimed a solid 3-1 win over Birmingham City last weekend, which extended their positive run of results to six matches unbeaten. They won four and drew two in that time. The visitors are also unbeaten in their last three away matches and have taken 13 of a possible 21 points on the road so far. Southampton’s biggest issue this season has been in defence, where they have conceded an alarming 25 goals already. Only QPR, Huddersfield, and Norwich City have worse defensive records this season. Still, with good momentum behind them, the Saints will be expecting to take all three points in this one.
