Michael van Gerwen will look to go one better on Night 2 of the 2025 Premier League Darts season, starting with a first-round match against Stephen Bunting on Thursday night. MVG is thrid in the league standings while The Bullet is seventh. To the prediction!
Michael van Gerwen showed signs of his best last week when he managed to beat Luke Littler in a tense opening round 6-5 despite The Nuke averaging an exceptional 113.91.
Mighty Mike then went on to face world number one Luke Humphries and missed the opportunity to advance to the final, left kicking himself after missing match darts to lose 6-5.
Still, his performance in the opening round was extremely encouraging and MVG will be looking to follow up that performance with another run on Night 2.
Meanwhile, Stephen Bunting had the support of Belfast behind him last week, but was unable to get by Rob Cross in the opening round, falling to Voltage 6-4 with an average of 94.03.
The Bullet then headed to the Players Championship and notched up wins over Bradley Brooks and Leon Weber on Monday, but was beaten in the last 32 by Andrew Gilding 6-4.
Bunting beat his upcoming opponent earlier this month at the Masters, but that was only his second victory against MVG in their last 10 encounters.
