Mali and Mauritania meet at the Japoma Stadium in Douala for their final match in Group F. Mali are on four points from their two matches while Mauritania are yet to pick up a point after losing their opening two matches. Mali are joint top in the group with Gambia and both teams have the exact same goal difference. If Mali and Gambia win their final game then the winner will be decided by goal difference. A Mali win would guarantee them progress to the next round while a loss for them could also see them through provided third place Tunisia also lose. Any two of Mali, Gambia and Tunisia can still qualify. Only Mauritania are already eliminated but they can still have a say in which teams qualify. Mali are unbeaten in their last eight matches with their last defeat coming against Tunisia in June.

Mauritania gave a good account of themselves in their first game before going down to Gambia but they were totally outplayed in their last match losing 4-0 to Tunisia. They have not won against Mali in their last four matches with three losses and a draw. Their poor run of results extends to before AFCON as they have only won once in their last 13 matches with that victory coming against lowly Syria in the recent Arab Cup. They cannot qualify and will be playing for pride but will have Tunisia and Gambia hoping that they can cause an upset to allow them to progress from the group.
