The climax of the weekend’s Ligue 1 action will be at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, where Lyon will be hosting Strasbourg. Going by the teams’ start to the season, this will be a blockbuster game. Lyon are fifth, while Strasbourg are third ahead of this match, and below is our prediction.
Two straight league losses have seen Lyon lose some ground against the early pacesetters. Les Gones’ battling performance against Nice in their last league game wasn’t sufficient, as they eventually lost 3-2.
That came after conceding two late goals earlier to fall 2-1 to Toulouse. Lyon have, however, recovered with a 2-0 win over Basel in the Europa League. They have a good run in Europe and will just need to bring that consistency closer home.
Strasbourg are looking to make another giant step as they look to stay in the title race. They have managed European and domestic assignments well so far but will be looking to bounce back here.
Their last two matches ended in draws, the most recent in the Conference League at home to Jagiellonia. Before that, they were on the verge of a famous victory after taking a 3-1 lead against PSG.
However, they couldn’t see it off as the champions rallied for a 3-3 draw. Strasbourg have another opportunity here, though their two losses were against top seven sides.
