Lithuania and host nation Latvia are set to lock horns at Xiaomi Arena in Round 16 of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025. This marks the first meeting between these two sides in the EuroBasket since 2015, when Lithuania won 68-49 in the first stage. Who will come out on top in this crucial encounter? Lithuania performed to expectations in the group stages of the FIBA EuroBasket, and there weren't any complaints. Located in Group B, the real challenge out of the four teams in that group was Europe's powerhouse, Germany.

In the group stages, they suffered just one defeat, and that was a damaging 107-88 loss against Germany that ended an impressive two-game winning streak. 

After that defeat, the Baltic Giants restored their confidence and beat Finland 81-78 before securing a narrow 74-71 triumph over Sweden on the final day.

Latvia have shown signs of promise in the FIBA EuroBasket, which was expected from them considering they are the host nation. 

Latvia did not have a great start to the competition, suffering a 93-73 defeat against Turkey. However, their response to that defeat was three wins in four games (L1).

In the final group stage game against whipping boys Czechia, they secured a 109-75 blowout victory. That result marked their second consecutive win. This saw them settle for third place in Group A.
