Fifth seed Jonny Clayton attempts to get past round two of the World Matchplay Darts Championship for only the second time. Round two this year sees 'The Ferret' take on Mike de Decker. Time for our match prediction.
The winner of this best-of-21-legs match goes into the quarter-finals. There they'll be up against either fourth seed Stephen Bunting or 13th-seeded Gary Anderson.
The only time Clayton made it past the second round at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool was his 2023. He went on to reach the final that year. 2025 has been a good year so far for the Irishman.
He's won two titles on the European Tour and Players' Championships circuits. Clayton was the runner-up in the World Masters and got to the last four in the 2025 UK Open. Round one saw him beat Martin Schindler 10-7,
Mike de Decker caused an upset in the first round. He defeated the 12th seed Dave Chisnall 10-7. However, his average was only 93.01, compared to the 99.6 recorded by Clayton in his win.
The Belgian won the World Grand Prix last year but hasn't replicated that success so far this year. He did win the Belgian Open Darts Open but has struggled to go deep since. We tip Clayton to win this match.
