Jiri Lehecka, the 20th seed at the US Open, has found his way through to the quarter-finals, where he is set to battle second seed Carlos Alcaraz. This is their third meeting of the season. Read on to find our prediction for this match.
Lehecka is having his best campaign at Flushing Meadows. Before this year, the Czech player had never progressed past the third round. Now, he is just two wins away from contesting a first-ever Grand Slam final.
Lehecka, who made the Australian Open quarter-finals two years ago, defeated Adrian Mannarino in four sets in the last round. The 23-year-old’s performance in New York has thrust him up to a new career high of 16th place in the live ranking.
Lehecka defeated Alcaraz in three sets in the quarter-finals in Doha back in February.
Carlos Alcaraz is back again amongst the last eight at Flushing Meadows. The five-time Grand Slam champion is a former US Open champion, achieving this feat in 2022.
Already with one Slam success this year, the Spaniard is a huge favourite to go all the way once again. Alcaraz defeated Arthur Rinderknech in straight sets to punch his quarter-final ticket. The win extended his current winning streak to 10 matches.
Alcaraz, who arrived at the year’s final major after his triumph in Cincinnati, regained top spot in the live ranking last week. The 22-year-old defeated Lehecka via a decider to be crowned once again champion at Queen’s Club.
