Wales trade tackles with Japan in a high-stakes second Test showdown on Saturday at Noevir Stadium in Kobe. The Dragons will aim to avenge their shock defeat to the Brave Blossoms in the first Test and end a prolonged losing streak since February 2024. Follow our prediction for the match below.
Wales dropped two places in the World Rugby Rankings to a record low of 14th following a shock 24-19 defeat to Japan in the first Test in Kitakyushu. The six-time Six Nations champions squandered a 12-point first-half lead following a shocking 17-0 second-half shutout by Eddie Jones’ men.
Notably, this defeat saw the team lose 17 straight matches against international opposition, dating back to February 2024. Hence, interim manager Matt Sherratt, despite being destined to exit the role after this two-Test series, will be under pressure to end the prolonged losing streak on Saturday.
Japan feasted on Wales’ prolonged misfortunes following the first-Test victory in Kitakyushu. It was their first in 17 successive attempts against Tier 1 rugby nations and a great way to bounce back after a 53-20 loss to Pacific rivals, the Maori All Blacks in a preceding non-test fixture. A win on Saturday could see them consolidate their recent rise.
