Hungary vs Bulgaria Prediction & Betting Tips - Euro

Hungary will get their Euro 2024 qualification run underway when they welcome Bulgaria to the Puskas Arena in Budapest on Monday evening. With five teams in each group, this will be the hosts first match of the qualifiers, and they will want to get off to a good start against a side that’s ranked much lower than themselves. Hungary is currently ranked 38th, according to Fifa, and has improved notably over the last few years. The hosts gave an excellent account of themselves in the UEFA Nations League, qualifying in second place in a group that included three sides that are all ranked above them; Italy, Germany, and England. Hungary managed 10 points in their six matches with a record of three wins, which included a 4-0 thrashing of England, along with one draw and two losses. Following the Nations League, Hungary played three friendly matches and was unbeaten in all three, with two wins and a draw. They will be in excellent spirits coming into this tournament and will be eyeing up a solid win in this one. 

Ranked 71st in the world, Bulgaria’s tournament did not get off to the type of start they would have wanted. The visitors are second from bottom in Group E after losing their first match to Montenegro 1-0 at home. Despite dominating possession for large parts of that match, the Bulgarians were unable to find any real penetration in their play and managed just three shots on target all game. They were eventually broken down by Montenegro in the 70th-minute courtesy of a Nikola Krstovic goal which ended up being the winner. In that match, Bulgaria showed no signs of the form that they produced in their Nations League campaign and will be hoping that they can bounce back to their best here, though it may be a tall order against the ever-improving Hungarians.
