Ninth seed James Wade is playing in the World Matchplay Darts for the 20th consecutive tournament. He faces unseeded Gian van Veen in the quarter finals. Can 'the Machine' again reach the semi-finals in Blackpool? Read our match prediction.
Wade first played in this tournament in 2006 reaching the final and winning it the following year. It's 2025 now but in the first round he averaged 104.44, his best ever in this tournament. That helped him beat Joe Cullen 10-3.
That high average was maintained in round two. This time his average was 102.54 as he defeated Wessel Nijman 11-5. A win will take him into his second successive Matchplay semi-final.
This match is being played over the best of 31 legs and the winner will face either fourth seed Stephen Bunting or fifth-seeded Jonny Clayton in the last four.
Gian van Veen beat top seed Luke Humphries in round one. He followed that up with an 11-5 win over fellow Dutchman Danny Noppert. His average hasn't been as high as that of Wade's with a best of 98.45 but only 94.94 in the last round.
This is his second major televised quarter-final of the year having also got to this stage in the UK Open.
We tip James Wade to win this match.
