After the thrills of the hard court and clay swings, the ATP grass season is here. The first stop is at the Libema Open, where the main draw starts on Monday. Among the competing players is Gabriel Diallo, who starts off against Aleksandar Vukic, and below is our prediction for the match.

These two are facing off for the second time, and the winner meets Jordan Thompson or Alexander Kovacevic in the second round.

Diallo has, in the last two ATP events, failed to replicate the deep run he had in Madrid, getting to the quarters. This ATP 250 event presents him with a good opportunity, and he’s gone past the first round in seven of his last 10 events.

Vukic will hope to extend his head-to-head record against Diallo here. The two met at the Australian Open qualifying rounds in 2023, and Vukic won in straight sets.

Coming here, though, he has the weaker run, his season’s highlight being a third-round showing at the Australian Open. The Aussie hasn’t lasted more than a match at any of the last three events he participated in.

He is coming from the Birmingham Challenger, where he was eliminated by Otto Virtanen in the first round. That was his ninth defeat in the first round at the tour level this season.
