France will take on the Czech Republic in the Winter Olympics on Friday in Pool A action. This is the second game of the group for both of the sides. Let’s take a look at the teams ahead of making a prediction. 

France kicked off their campaign against Switzerland which was always going to be a tricky contest for them. They were 0-2 down barely three minutes into the game but they held the Swiss off in the middle frame before conceding another couple in the final period.

Alexandre Texier is the French player who is currently part of an NHL franchise. The Montreal Canadiens forward has picked up seven goals this season. Another recognisable name is Pierre-Edouard Bellmare who played 700 games in the NHL.

The Czech Republic were yet to kick off their group games at the time of writing, set to take on Canada on Thursday afternoon. It feels unlikely that they are going to get anything out of that particular game so this becomes all the more important. 

They won the 2024 World Championships so there is plenty of pedigree in the side, with David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins leading the forward line. He recently picked up point number 900 at the NHL level.

France will have been pleased enough with their opening effort at these championships, keeping Switzerland honest though most of their first group game. Things are going to be more difficult here with the Czech Republic team more likely to run up a scoreboard than the Swiss. Switzerland lost to the Czechs in both November and December and with that form line to go on, this should be a comfortable win for the Czech side.
