Our next match prediction features the traditional curtain raiser to the Romanian league season, the Romanian SuperCup. This annual clash between the current league Champions, FCSB, and the Romanian Cup winners, CFR Cluj, pits the two best teams in the country against each other once again. Will it be the Ros-albastrii or the Clujenii who kick off their season with a new piece of silverware?
Last season, FCSB claimed a record 28th league title, topping the league in both the Regular Season and following the playoffs. CFR Cluj pushed them closest, finishing second to FCSB in both the regular season and playoffs. However, CRF Cluj did manage to win their fifth Romanian Cup as Dan Petrescu's team beat Hermannstadt in the final 3-2 back in May.
After winning the league title in May, FCSB has played two friendly matches, winning both against Dutch opponents. They won an entertaining game against Almere 3-2 and followed that up with another impressive win, 3-1 against Utrecht, both of which came on their pre-season tour of the Netherlands.
Since the end of the season, CFR Cluj have had just four warm-up matches. They beat Slovan Bratislava 4-2 at home, before drawing 2-2 away to Grazer AK. They then landed two away wins, 3-0 at SK Dynamo and, most recently, a 2-0 win at Debrecen.
