Canadian Grand Prix Predictions & Betting tips - Formule 1
by Devesh Jaganath |
Formula 1 returns this weekend and we are off to the Circuit de Gilles-Villeneuve for the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday evening. Oscar Piastri is the championship leader with 186 points, followed by Lando Norris on 176, and Max Verstappen in third with 137 points. Let’s get into the race prediction.
In a stunning Q3 performance, George Russell powered Mercedes to pole position, clocking a time of 1m10.899s, securing his second Canadian Grand Prix pole in succession.
Joining Russell on the front row is Red Bull's Max Verstappen with a time of 1m11.059s. Bear in mind, the reigning world champion is one penalty point away from a race ban.
Championship leader Oscar Piastri will start on the second row alongside the other Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli. The McLaren man finished 0.221s adrift of his compatriot in the lead Mercedes.
Lewis Hamilton produced Ferrari’s best qualifying result of the season for P5, while arguably, the most impressive Q3 session came from Fernando Alonso, who will start in P6.
Lando Norris had another costly error, going wide into the final chicane and losing the rear end, which sees him forced to settle for P7 alongside Charles Leclerc in the second Ferrari.
Isack Hadjar and Alex Albon round out the top 10. Notably, Liam Lawson suffered a first-session exit in qualifying and will start all the way back in second-last.

Our Canadian Grand Prix - Formule 1 prediction
Qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix produced several shocks, arguably the most surprising being Lando Norris’s error, which forced him into P7 on Sunday, leaving him with plenty to do to reach the podium.
However, as we’ve already seen this year, McLaren are significantly quicker than the majority of the field, and we feel that both papaya cars will finish as the top team on Sunday. Our Canadian Grand Prix prediction is both McLaren’s to finish in the top six.
