U21 Euro 2025 Predictions & Betting tips
U21 Euro 2025 presentation - Football
The European Under-21 Championship is an official UEFA European competition that has been in existence since 1978.
It is played every two years, and this year (2025) will be the 25th edition. It brings together the 16 best youth teams (under 21, only players born after 1 January 2002 can take part) in Europe, and will be played this year in Slovakia from 11 to 28 June.
This is always an interesting competition for your football predictions, especially in a slack period like June!
Our free prediction for the U21 Euro 2025
A very interesting tournament awaits us in June, with some very fine teams coming to Slovakia. Two nations stand out as favourites with the bookmakers, Germany and Spain, closely followed by a number of outsiders: England, France, Germany, Portugal, the Netherlands and Italy.
All in all, the biggest European nations are there, just as they are for the adults. And as for the future winner, it remains rather complicated to decide between the nations mentioned above, given the abundance of young talent in each squad. France in particular will have to watch out, as they come into the tournament with a very strong squad on paper.
Coach Lee Carsley has called up Beadle (Brighton and Hove Albion), Livramento (Newcastle United), Quansah (Liverpool), Bellingham (Sunderland), Gray (Tottenham Hotspur), Elliott (Liverpool) and Nwaneri (Arsenal). There could also have been Branthwaite (Everton), Mainoo (Man United) or McAtee (Man City), but they are absent.
Even so, we give a very slight advantage to Spain, which still has some superb youth teams (Rafa Marin of Napoli, Gerard Martin, Pablo Torre and especially Fermin Lopez of Barcelona, Matías Fernández-Pardo of LOSC) and is also the most successful country in the competition (on a par with Italy), as well as to England, the reigning champions and 3-time winners. Our Euro U21 2025 prediction: victory for England or Spain!

Beginner Guide - how does the Champions U21 Euro work?
The 16 teams are divided into 4 groups of 4 nations, with a draw based on the hats. There's nothing unusual about the way this works compared with other competitions:
- The 16 teams are divided into 4 groups of 4
- Only the top two teams qualify for the quarter-finals
- The bottom two teams in each group are eliminated from the competition
Each country plays 3 matches in the group phase, and reaches the quarter-finals only by finishing in one of the top two places in the standings. Since the knockout phase starts directly with the quarter-finals, there is no repechage of the best third-placed teams.
The winners of the quarter-finals go on to compete in the semi-finals. The competition ends on 28 June with the grand final, which crowns the European U21 champion team. As with the adult Euro, there is no third-place play-off (as there is at the World Cup or Nations League, for example).
Here are the key dates:
- Group stage: 11 to 18 June
- Quarter-finals: 21 and 22 June
- Semi-finals: 25 June
- Final: 28 June 2025
You now have all the key information you need about how this U21 Euro 2025 tournament will be organised and run.

U21 Euro: statistics you need to know
Let's move on to another very important subject. In order to prepare your bets on U21 Euro 2025 in the best possible way, the tournament's statistics are obviously important.
Below are the figures for the last edition, played in 2023, and the 31 matches played from the group phase to the grand final:
- Average number of goals: 2.32 goals per match
- +0.5 goals: 90
- -0.5 goals: 10
- +1.5 goals: 68
- -1.5 goals: 32
- +2.5 goals: 42
- -2.5 goals: 58
- +3.5 goals: 19
- -3.5 goals: 81
- +4.5 goals: 10
- -4.5 goals: 90
- ‘Both teams to score: yes’: 45
- Average shots per game: 21.03
- Victory by a margin of 2 goals or more (handicap): 32.2% of duels
- Correct score 0-0: 9.7% of clashes
- Correct score 1-1: 9.7% of matches
- Most frequent score: 1-0 or 0-1 (22.6% of games)
- Quarters with the most goals: 31‘-45’ and 76‘-90’ (23%)
- Tens with the most goals: 81‘-90’ (18%)
As you can see, the U21 Euro is not exactly the ideal tournament for fans of goal-scoring matches and Over betting.
The average number of goals is relatively low, and the Under seems to be the type of bet to favour, like the ‘both teams to score: no’ bet. The latter was validated in more than half the matches!
Handicap wins also seem to be to be avoided, but a few exact scores (0-0, 1-1 or 1-0 and 0-1) will be worth a try. And when you consider the average odds on offer for exact scores, there are some good shots to be had!
