The Ice Hockey at the Winter Olympics should be outstanding with a number of strong teams competing. Finland take on Sweden on Friday in their second game in Group B. Who comes out on top? Read our prediction to find out.
Finland played Slovakia in their opening game of the tournament on Wednesday. That was a losing effort, on the wrong end of a 1-4 scoreline. The teams were level after two periods, however, Slovakia only getting on top late on.
It was the Seattle Kraken’s Eeli Tolvanen who got the only tally for the Fins, with Jusse Saros the man between the pipes, giving up three on 24 shots. They outshot their opponents 40-24 but failed to make that count.
A game against Italy kicked off Group B for Sweden. They made much harder work of things than most fans would have been predicting, Italy taking the lead just over four minutes in and then equalizing at 2-2 early in the second.
Eventually their class came to the fore as they ran out 5-2 winners but they had to work a touch harder than perhaps they would have felt. Finland are a stronger side but that was only an opening contest.
