Barbora Krejcikova has silently worked her way to the US Open third round, where she will be up against Emma Navarro. The two will be facing off for the second time this year, and the winner gets to meet Taylor Townsend or Mirra Andreeva in the fourth round. Read on for our prediction of the match below.

Emma Navarro, the 10th seed, overcame Caty McNally in straight sets in the last round, improving her tally to 27-21 on the season. However, her run since winning the title in Merida hasn’t been quite encouraging.

Her fourth-round appearance at Wimbledon and Australian Open quarter-finals are key highlights, but she’s lost five times in her last eight outings. This includes failing to win a single match in three of the previous four hard-court tournaments before the US Open. The American enters this round placed 15th in the live rank.

Krejcikova lost in her only previous meeting with Navarro and will be keen on avenging the Wimbledon defeat in July. The Czech athlete hasn’t had a glittering season, her highlight being the Eastbourne quarter-final, and she also reached the third round in Wimbledon.

Here at Flushing Meadows, though, she extinguished the fast-rising Victoria Mboko’s fire. She then followed up with eliminating Moyuka Uchijima in the second round to improve to 10-6 for the year.

The two-time Grand Slam winner has all to fight for here as she looks to better her quarter-final best at the US Open.
