Congo DR vs Gambia Prediction & Betting Tips - AFCON

DR Congo have performed dismally in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers, by their standards and will for the first time fail to make an appearance in the finals, having played in each of the last four. They will be at home to face Gambia, who have already qualified for the final tournament. DR Congo have six points in Group D and are placed third, four points below Gambia, who jointly lead with Gabon on 10 points. DR Congo are coming from a 3-0 loss to Gabon in their last match, which left them with just three wins in the last 10 games, and three clean sheets to. Their AFCON journey has been bumpy, winning just one of the five matches so far – against bottom side, Angola. Some of the hardships they’ve had along the way have been self inflicted – in their first leg meeting with Gambia away, they twice blew the lead to draw 2-2. In their two home matches in Group D, they’ve drawn 0-0 in each. This has been a low season for the nation, which has lost just two and won six of the last 10 AFCON qualification matches at home.

Gambia head here straight from a home win over Angola, which guaranteed them a top two finish after DR Congo lost to Gabon in west Africa. The visitors aren’t the strongest in defence and head here with just two clean sheets in the last 10 matches, and three losses. However, they’ve failed to score in just one of their last 10 matches, and will go here hoping to avoid a second straight away loss, having fallen 2-1 to Gabon in their last away match. Should that happen, though, nothing will change. With their ticket in tow, it isn’t likely Gambia will want to push themselves so much here, and their away ruin hasn’t been great anyway. They have one win and eight losses in their last 15 away matches in AFCON qualifiers. In the last eight AFCON qualification matches, Gambia have no clean sheet.
