Djibouti and Sierra Leone will conclude their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign when they face off in neutral Casablanca on Sunday. The Sharks of the Red Sea are at the bottom of Group A, while the Leone Stars are in third place. Let’s get into the match prediction. 

Djibouti entered this group as the clear outsiders to qualify for the World Cup, and that is exactly how things have panned out, as they have only taken one point from their nine games so far.

The Sharks of the Red Sea were outclassed by Egypt (3-0) in midweek and have now failed to score in their last three matches in this competition, while conceding 11 goals in that period. 

Given that they do not have a FIFA-approved stadium, Djibouti will not have home advantage here. They lost to their upcoming opponents 2-1 in the reverse fixture last year. 

Meanwhile, Sierra Leone have fought valiantly in this qualification campaign, but their hopes of reaching their first World Cup were ended last week when they were beaten 1-0 by Burkina Faso. 

Still, with 12 points after nine games, the Leone Stars can be proud of their performance, and a win here would make this their most successful WCQ campaign ever in terms of points earned. 

However, the visitors have not won an away game in this competition, while their last victory on the road in any competition was back in October 2023 against Somalia.
