The Pumas will have a golden opportunity to get themselves back in playoff contention in the Currie Cup when they travel to take on Western Province at the Danie Craven Stadium on Sunday. The hosts are in seventh place in the standings, while the visitors are fifth. Let’s get into the match prediction.

Western Province will play their penultimate match of the 2024 Currie Cup season on Sunday as they will be unable to reach the top four even if they win both their remaining games in the competition. 

Province’s qualification hopes were brought to an end last weekend when they were beaten at this venue by the Sharks 31-23, marking their sixth loss in eight games and leaving them on 14 points with two rounds to play. 

Their two wins in the competition came against minnows the Griffons, and the side from the West Coast are now hoping to avoid a fourth defeat on the bounce. 

Meanwhile, the top four race is red-hot and the Pumas are right in the mix. They were given a huge boost of reaching the playoffs after the Free State Cheetahs suffered an unexpected loss to Griquas earlier this weekend. 

As it stands, the Pumas are one point off the Cheetahs and a win here will put them back in the top four, setting up a blockbuster matchup against the defending champions next weekend. 

The Mpumalanga-based outfit are unbeaten on the road this season and are the favourites in this one.
