Few teams in the Super Lig could use a win as badly as Denizlispor, the Turkish top-flight team who play host to Goztepe on Monday. The midtable side, currently seven points above the drop in 12th place, have only been victorious in one of their last seven matches. Even that victory has an asterisk beside it because it was the return leg of a cup match and they ended up losing on penalties. Bowing out of the cup was no great loss as the league is their primary focus. Steadying the ship there is crucial before they are dragged into a dog-fight at the bottom. With three defeats in their last four league matches, it's not an ideal time for Denizlispor to take on a Goztepe side coming off of back-to-back wins.
A team with an interesting history, Goztepe have been in the top tier of Turkish football since 2016 but were once a force in the country. Financial mismanagement led to their downfall in 2003 and Goztepe had to fight through the leagues to get back to familiar territory. Once again, they look comfortable in the Super Lig. In fact, they are only six points away from a European place. If they want to climb from their current eighth place position then they have to swat aside vulnerable opposition like Denizilspor.
