Dayana Yastremska had suffered four first round defeats at Roland Garros before this year. The world number 48 is up three places in the live rankings after finally getting a win in Paris. That came against wild card Destanee Aiava and the Ukrainian then caused a shock in round two.
The 25-year-old beat 12th-seeded Diana Shnaider, winning both sets 7-5.
