The Mavericks were blown out 125-92 at home in the season opener to rivals San Antonio on Wednesday. First pick of the 2025 NBA Draft Cooper Flagg had a tough start to his NBA career.
The exciting rookie shot just 4-13 from the field for 10 points, although he did manage to grab 10 rebounds. In fairness, having to go against a very good Spurs defense was a tough task and the 18-year-old should have a much easier go of it against the Wizards.
Washington also suffered a heavy defeat to kick off their 2025-26 campaign as they were beaten 133-120 on the road by the Bucks. The Wizards shot the ball well, hitting 40% of their threes, but had no answer for Giannis Antetounkoumpo.
