Unseeded Constant Lestienne will on Tuesday at the Moselle Open go in search of his first victory against third seed Karen Khachanov. The two will square off in the second round with the winner next playing either Alexander Shevchenko, Mate Valkusz, or Daniel Altmaier. Constant Lestienne dropped just five games in his first-round win over compatriot and qualifier Calvin Hemery. The win was his fourth in his last five matches and he will hope to keep this form going against Khachanov. Lestienne has had a rocky campaign and currently has won just four more matches than he has lost. Amid the inconsistency, he has managed to win three challenger titles and has maintained his place in the ATP Top 100. Lestienne is currently ranked 84th in the live ranking.

Karen Khachanov has won both previous meetings with Lestienne. He won at the French Open earlier this year in their latest encounter. The Russian has been more assured this year than his French opponent and has done so while playing at tour level. He has compiled a 33-17 record and has won five of seven matches on indoor hard courts. To consider that he has won that many games, as well as one title while struggling with his fitness, is impressive. Khachanov, ranked 15th in the ATP, is coming off a quarterfinal finish at the Paris Masters.
