Congo will start their 2025 African Nations Championship (Chan) campaign with a match against Sudan in Group D. These two nations will also compete against Senegal and Nigeria in the group. We have a prediction of this round one meeting below.

Congo are making a fifth appearance at this competition and will hope to go further than the quarter-finals this time. In Algeria 2022, they got eliminated at the group stage but had reached the quarters in two of their earlier three appearances.

To get their ticket here, the Central African nation saw off Equatorial Guinea 2-1 on aggregate. This marks the first meeting between the two nations outside World Cup and AFCON qualifiers. In their seven earlier meetings, Congo won four times.

Sudan have three wins against Congo on record, but they lost the latest two, those having been more than a decade ago. As these two nations renew their rivalry, Sudan will be targeting a better run at this competition, their fourth.

In their three previous Chan appearances, Sudan reached the semis twice and finished third. Last time out, in Algeria, they exited at the group stage.

Sudan beat Ethiopia home and away to secure this slot, winning 4-1 on aggregate. They will hope to carry on in the same way, being unbeaten in their last six matches.
