Colombia will take on Portugal in their final Group K game in the 2026 World Cup in the early hours of Sunday morning for European viewers. We saw something much more akin to the real Portugal in their second group game, and a win for them will see them top the group. Portugal have only kept six clean sheets in their last 22 games, while Colombia's losses to European teams in friendlies this year have our prediction heading for goals.

Colombia are currently on top of Group K and have already booked their spot in the knockout stages of this tournament by winning both games. They will need at least a point here if they are to retain that position and give themselves what would theoretically be an easier matchup in the final 32.

It was a disappointing opening contest from Portugal in this competition and they looked to take out that frustration on Uzbekistan on Tuesday night as they thrashed them 5-0. Nothing less than a win here for the Seleção das Quinas against Los Cafeteros will see them top the group, so both teams are fully aware of the task at hand.

Colombia - Portugal: Form Analysis

Colombia vs Portugal Predictions - World Cup 2026

It has been a perfect start for Colombia to their World Cup campaign. They saw off Uzbekistan in their opening contest 3-1 before a narrow 1-0 success of DR Congo in their second game. Six points from a possible six looks good on paper, but this is a much bigger test.

A goal deep into second half injury time added a bit more to the margin against Uzbekistan, but they are a team who have tasted just two defeats in their last 11 matches, 1-3 against France and 1-2 against Croatia, both in friendly matches back in March.

Portugal score plenty but they have also shipped 21 in thier last 22 games.

A 1-1 draw with DR Congo was not the way that Portugal will have expected their tournament to start but they quickly showed what they can do going forward with an expert demolition job of Uzbekistan, that one finishing 5-0.

The current Nations League champions are generally high goal scorers but they spent more than enough time picking the ball out of their own net as well. Since their last major tournament, Portugal has played 22 games including friendlies, conceding in 16 of those games, allowing 21 goals in total.

Colombia & Portugal Squad Analysis

Colombia have come through their opening two games with no injury concerns heading into this deciding fixture, something that will be a big plus both to their fans and Nestor Lorenzo who has a full squad to pick from.

Crystal Palace defender Daniel Munoz has found the net in both of their games so far, the team captained by James Rodriguez who smashed his way onto the scene winning the Golden Boot in the 2014 World Cup.

Both managers have teams with almost clean bills of health coming into the game.

It is a similar story where Portugal are concerned with just a niggle for Tomas Araujo at present ahead of their final game in the group. That gives Roberto Martinez almost all available options with which to juggle his best lineup to get the win that they need.

Ronaldo picked up a brace against Uzbekistan to silence a few of his critics after the DR Congo match. Strong through the midfield and going forward, they conceded against DR Congo and Uzbekistan had a goal disallowed, so defensively is where they need to tighten up.

Our Colombia vs Portugal Prediction

It would be easy to think that this is going to be a tight game with a win for either team (or a draw for Colombia) seeing them take the group ahead of the last 32. That said, both will be looking for that result to give them what should be an easier tie in the first knockout stage. Portugal need to win and they have the firepower to overcome most teams. Colombia have been strong at the back so far but this is their toughest task. Our Colombia vs Portugal prediction is more than 2.5 goals.

Portugal have been conceding rather too many goals since the last major tournament and Colombia will be looking to catch them on the counter attack as Portugal will need to bring the pressure.

When it comes down to the quality of the two teams, there is only one winner in this matchup and that is Portugal. They hopefully have their blip for the tournament out of the way nice and early and can lay down a marker here.
